The City of Phoenix Housing Department is dedicated to helping our local seniors continue living an active and fulfilling life throughout their retirement years. Our caring staff and warm environment enhances the quality of life for our residents.

All of our apartment communities are conveniently and strategically located throughout Phoenix. They are located near bus routes, shopping centers, grocery stores, senior centers, parks, hospitals and pharmacies. Our retirement communities are specially designed to provide comfortable living for elderly residents as well as disabled residents. The City of Phoenix does not provide assisted living; however, residents are welcome to secure their own assistance when medically necessary.

Applications are accepted and apartments offered without regard to race, color, sex, national origin, religious, political or other affiliations, or families or individuals who receive all or part of their income from public assistance.

To qualify, a person must be:

• 62 years of age or older;
• OR handicapped or disabled as defined in section 223 of the Social Security Act.

Preference is given to applicants sixty-two (62) years of age and older at Sunnyslope Manor, Fillmore Gardens, Maryvale Terrace and Pine Tower Apartments. Washington Manor and McCarty apartments communities offer equal priority to the elderly and non-elderly disabled applicants. All applicants must pass a credit, criminal and landlord background check, and meet federal income guidelines.
