Southwest Supermarket Fire!
The Phoenix Fire Department needs your help. Several witnesses were seen in the area of the Southwest Supermarket (located at 35th Ave. & McDowell) around 5pm on March 14, 2001. The Phoenix Fire Department would like to talk to them. THEY ARE NOT CONSIDERED SUSPECTS! Officials believe that they may have information about the activities on the property just before the fire.If anyone has information about these individuals listed below, or how to contact them, please call Silent Witness at 480-948-6377, or toll free at 1-800-343-TIPS Callers may remain anonymous. There is a reward available of up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
The March 14th fire at 1520 N. 35th Ave. killed Firefighter/Paramedic Bret Tarver, and caused $4 million in damage.
Two Witnesses - Probably father and son, walking together:
Witness #1
- Hispanic teenage male, may attend Carl Hayden High School
- 5' 7", 165 pounds
- Short dark hair
Witness #2
- Fair skin color
- Hispanic male, 40-45 years old
- 5' 6", 170 pounds
- Witnesses may live in the area of 35th Ave. & McDowell.
- They may have seen something in the alley behind the Southwest Supermarket.
Four Witnesses - in Vehicle
- Gray or smoke-colored sedan, possibly a Datsun
- 4 Hispanic males, 14-22 years old
- Wearing dark pants, light shirts
- Driver may have had some type of net on hair
- Car was last seen leaving the parking lot, just south of the Southwest Supermarket, heading southbound on 35th Ave.
