Sept. 30, 2008 Phoenix Residents Can Learn How to Form a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Organization Phoenix residents can learn how to create bylaws and file articles of incorporation to become a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization during a free workshop from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3, at the Neighborhood Resource Center, 2405 E. Broadway Road. The workshop, "Becoming a 501(c)(3)," is part of a series sponsored by the city of Phoenix Neighborhood Services Department that focus on neighborhood improvement. Participants also will learn how to apply for federal and state tax exemptions and which licenses or permits that may be required. The workshops are free, but registration is required. A complete listing of the workshops can be found on the city’s Web site at phoenix.gov/nsd. Future workshop topics to be discussed include understanding landlord/tenant rights, grant writing and fund raising and how to create a neighborhood newsletter.
