Pollution Prevention Communication Plan
Pollution Prevention Program
The city of Phoenix initiated a Pollution Prevention (P2) Program in 1995
focusing on two primary goals: to reduce the use of hazardous materials in
city operations and to eliminate the generations of hazardous waste.
The Pollution Prevention Section provides assistance in achieving compliance
in hazardous materials and hazardous waste management for City of Phoenix departments
through education, technical assistance, environmental facilities assessments,
and chemical inventory management.
The Pollution Prevention Section will promote environmental sustainability
by:
- assisting city operations in resource conservation, pollutant elimination,
and hazardous material and waste compliance.
- developing our program to support departments as they build and maintain
an environmental management system (EMS)
