Pollution Control’s Organization Chart

Administration
- Oversees the PCD operation, budget, human resources and information systems.
- Provide advice, guidance and assistance to regional, and international, pretreatment programs
- Participate in Sub-Regional Operating Group (SROG) activities
Industrial Pretreatment Program
- Reduce the health and environmental risks of pollution caused by discharges to the treatment plants
- Help protect the integrity of wastewater treatment plant operations
- Improve the viability of recycling and reclaiming municipal wastewaters
- Enforce applicable EPA standards by permitting appropriate industries
- Manage the Pretreatment Compliance Academy educational outreach program
Commercial
- Ensure the integrity and capacity of the sanitary sewer system.
- Perform field inspections to approve construction of pretreatment devices (interceptor)
- Inspection of commercial users to verify adequate pretreatment device capacity and maintenance.
- Help identify those responsible for interference or problems experienced at the treatment plant or in the collection system.
Pollution Prevention, Planning and Research (P3R)
- Develop Best Management Practices (BMPs) for facilities discharging pollutants
- Implement public education efforts to reduce pollutants to the treatment plants.
- Monitor applicable EPA/City of Phoenix standards by issuing Class “B” permits.
- Local Limits evaluation.
- Various research activities and other projects.
Wastewater Monitoring
- Perform industrial pretreatment compliance sampling
- Wastewater, and reclamation treatment, plants compliance sampling
- Sewer usage verification, and sewer capacity flow studies
- Special projects, studies, and emergency response
Water Monitoring
- Perform water quality compliance sampling
- Test new water mains
- Promptly respond to customer inquiries about water quality
- Special projects, studies, and emergency response
