Gang Awareness

Gang

What comes to mind when you hear the word "gang"? How does it make you feel?

Vocabulary

damage, gangs, threaten

Idea

Gangs hurt people and damage things in the neighborhood.  They often break the law.  Gangs make people feel afraid to participate in neighborhood activities.

Objectives

Students should realize how terrible gangs are for the neighborhood.  They should recognize and avoid gang activities by:

  • Staying away from places where gang members "hang out."
  • Never answering gang members who try to get you to join them.
  • Always telling a parent, guardian, or other trusted adult if gang members threaten you or ask you to do something that is dangerous or harmful.
