Councilman Greg Stanton's
Arcadia News Column
May 2000
Neighborhood preservation is my highest priority. Strong neighborhoods are the strength of our city and I am committed to working with you to improve our quality of life. I support active citizen involvement in the city decision-making process. In addition, I support information sharing among communities for positive neighborhood change.
To honor our outstanding neighborhoods, the city of Phoenix is celebrating Neighborhoods That Work on May 23. Neighborhoods That Work is a program designed to recognize and celebrate the extraordinary commitment, accomplishments, creativity and resourcefulness of organized neighborhood groups in Phoenix.
This year, Neighborhoods That Work kicks off the national Neighborhoods USA (NUSA) conference which our city has proudly been selected to host. The conference, to be held May 24 - 27 at the Phoenix Civic Plaza, brings together neighborhood leaders from across the United States.
In addition to workshops and networking, neighborhood tours are considered one of the highlights of the NUSA conference. This year, the Arcadia/Camelback Mountain Homeowners Association was selected as one of the NUSA tour neighborhoods. Congratulations to Association President Paul Barnes and the entire board of directors. Paul is not only an Arcadia neighborhood leader, but he is a respected neighborhood leader citywide.
For conference information, call (480) 759-0714 or visit
