Take your Money, You Earned It

As tax season comes to a close, it is important for individuals and families to remember that they may be eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). If you earned less that $36,348 last year, you could receive as much as $4,536 based on your earnings and number of members in your family. If you have filed your taxes and fall under the maximum income limit, taking advantage of this opportunity can really benefit you and your loved ones. Here is the breakdown:

Earned Income Tax Credit Eligibility

Children

Earned Income

Maximum Credit

0

$12,120

$412

1

$32,001

$2,747

2

$36,348

$4,536

Additional monies are offered to married couples who are filing jointly and those who have children under the age of 17. The Child Tax Credit Eligibility offers $1,000 for each qualifying child. The Arizona Family Tax Credit Eligibility is available to Arizona residents based on where they live and their filing status. If you make less than $31,000 per year you could be eligible for further credit. The Arizona Increased Excise Tax Credit also depends on residency and is available to those whose total earnings per year do not exceed $21,000.

Claiming your EITC is extra money to put in your pocket that can go to anything from a down payment on a new home, to tuition for you or your child’s education. This is money that belongs to you and that you can spend wherever you need it most. Find out what you can qualify for by calling the city of Phoenix EITC Campaign at 602-262-4520.
