Don Jordan Tribute Huge Success
George Benson Highlights Top Quality Entertainment
Approximately 150 people packed R. H. Hamilton American Legion Post #65 on October 26 to pay tribute to local deceased musician Don Jordon (Music Man). Many local musicians donated their time and fine music to the event including Jesse McGuuire, Larry Rimes, Dr. Fish, Dave Cook, and Raleft Corosco to name a few.
The entertainers performed in sets and played all types of music. Dave Cook was superb on the vibes. Master Blaster DJ Gino kept the crowd in the mood between sets and the trumpet playing of Jesse McGuire and guitar playing of Raleft Corosco kept the audience on their feet clapping.
Phyllis Fennel prepared some awesome fruit trays, Swedish meatballs and hot chicken wings that the patrons enjoyed as they listened to good music.
At the break, Arizona Informant’s Michael Dean presented Jordan’s daughter Shannon with a beautiful picture that was taken in 1982 at the 20 anniversary of the Century Sky Room.
After the break, spectators received a special treat when the famous George Benson, accompanied by Nathan Sturdivant, took the stage. Couples packed the dance floor as he belted out his famous “Breezing” and “On Broadway.” The audience was thrilled. After he sang, he sat and enjoyed the delicious food and greeted and socialized with patrons. Benson lives in the Paradise Valley area now.
Hats Off to American Legion Commander Bill Harvey for promoting such a worthy event and most of all for acquiring such special entertainment. He expressed special thanks to Benson and the entertainers for donating their time and music to this beneficial cause. Over $1700 was raised for the Jordan family.
